About EduCensus
A national school registry system built for the countries that need it most.
Millions of students are invisible to policymakers.
Thousands of schools across Haiti and Sub-Saharan Africa have never appeared in any official government registry. Without a complete, verified school census, ministries of education cannot allocate teachers fairly, distribute textbooks accurately, plan school construction strategically, or report credibly to international donors. Education policy cannot reach what cannot be counted.
An estimated 20 percent of schools in EduCensus partner countries have never been officially registered.

ECLS-K Aligned Data Architecture
The EduCensus data architecture is modeled on the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Cohort (ECLS-K), produced by the National Center for Education Statistics of the United States Department of Education — the gold standard for multi-level, longitudinal education data. EduCensus adapts this architecture for national school census operations, providing school-level, commune-level, department-level, and national-level data files with standardized variable naming, derived analytical indicators, and a complete codebook. Analysts familiar with ECLS-K public-use files will find EduCensus data directly comparable in structure and documentation quality.
EduCensus is built. Now we launch.
EduCensus is a fully operational platform — the field collector application, the ministry dashboard, the data architecture, and the official codebook are all complete. The trademark is filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Institutional affiliations with Teachers College Columbia University, the Center for Public Leadership and Research, and Texas Tech University are established. What comes next is the first field deployment — Round 1 data collection in partnership with national ministries of education in the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa. We are currently in active partnership discussions with ministries in several countries.
